Bihar is all set to open its first-ever wildlife hospital in the forest range of Sherpur, Muzaffarpur.
The proposal to open the hospital was sent to the state government in July last year.
Thereafter, the state government forwarded the proposal to the central government as well.
Divisional Forest Officer, Revati Raman said, we have got the approval to build the wildlife hospital in the main office premises of the Forest range. Now, we are waiting for the guidelines from the state government to start the construction process.
It is reported that Rs 1 crore will be spent to construct the hospital which includes the hospital’s building and other resources.
Out of the required amount for constructing the hospital, the state government will bear 60 percent amount whereas the central government will bear the remaining percentage. The central government has so far sanctioned 25 percent of its share.
How will the animals be treated in the hospital?
First of all, the rescue team of the Forest Department will bring the sick or injured animals of the forest to the hospital.
After this, the doctors will treat these animals and keep them in the hospital for fifteen days.
Once fully recovered, the animals will be released back into the wild.
Veterinarian Dr. Rajeev Thakur said that one doctor, two assistants, and three animal handlers will be deployed to treat animals in the hospital.
The End Note
The opening of Bihar’s first wildlife hospital in Muzaffarpur is a significant step towards the conservation of the state’s rich wildlife.
The hospital will treat sick and injured animals by providing them necessary care and support.
We should appreciate, the state and central government’s support in funding the hospital. That shows their commitment to preserving the state’s biodiversity.
Overall, the establishment of Bihar’s first wildlife hospital is a very positive step towards conserving the state’s wildlife for generations to come.
